We teach the following Tap classes:
Beginners Tap – Learning the basic sounds, beats and rhythms of tap dancing. Dancing the “Warm-up Song”, Paradiddles, the Freeze and many more fun steps.
Pupils aged 5-8 years
Wednesdays 4:15pm – 4:45pm At Panshanger Community Hall.
Grade 1 Tap – Adding additional beats and sounds. Learning more varying rhythms and faster tempos
Pupils aged 7 -8 years.
Wednesdays 3:45pm – 4:15pm At Panshanger Community Hall.
Grade 2 Tap – More intricate rhythms introduced and further development of beats and sounds. Fun and fast!!
Pupils aged 8 – 11 years.
Wednesdays 4:45pm – 5:30pm At Panshanger Community Hall.
Grade 3 Tap – Further development of beats and sounds and rhythm. Two contrasting amalgamations, one of which is performed with drum sticks!! Great fun!!
Pupils aged 11 – 12 years.
Mondays 5:15pm – 6pm At Panshanger Community Hall.
Grade 4 Tap – More emphasis required in style, and more awareness of syncopated rhythms showing musical appreciation. Sense of performance and dance quality required throughout, showing students enthusiasm and joy for dancing.
Pupils aged 13 – 14 years
Wednesdays 6:45pm – 7:30pm At Panshanger Community Hall.
Grade 5 Tap – Further development of technical exercises with challenging rhythms. Introduction of wings and pick-up time-steps, building up to a more advanced standard. Style and personality required throughout, with four very different amalgamations to master!!
Students aged 14 – 16 years
Tuesdays 5:45pm – 6:30pm at Hazel Grove Community Centre
Intermediate Tap – First of the Vocational exams for Tap. The main difference from the Grades is the style and the line. Good tonal quality of sounds required throughout the syllabus. Two contrasting styles with the two amalgamations, requiring clarity of beats, light and shade, style and personality. Students are taking their exam at the end of the Autumn Term 2019.
Students aged 16-17 years.
Mondays 6pm – 6:45pm at Panshanger Community Hall
Adult Tap – Monday 7.30pm – 8.30pm. – Advanced/Intermediate class. Held at Panshanger Community Hall
